7 Simple Ways To Connect With Your Higher Self

The term “higher self” can be described in many different ways, some call it your true essence, others call it your soul, consciousness, your intuition, egoless self, holy spirit. To me it all means the same thing, it’s that part of you that is an infinite being, that is wise and ever knowing and has helped you through many different life times.


When we're connected to our higher self we feel at peace, blissful, full of love, and completely at ease. We know what we're supposed to be doing with our life and our purpose.


I know when I connect to my higher self I'll never be misguided and things will flow effortlessly and easily. If you're needing any guidance in your life, the best way to get it is to go within. Just like there are so many names for your higher self, there are many ways to connect to it. Here are some ways to get you started:

1. Automatic writing

Take a few deep breaths to centre yourself and get out a pen and paper and start asking questions. Start with a question that is easy and you know the answer to (like your hair colour) and then start automatically writing the answers that come up. When you feel comfortable with the process start asking questions you'd like the answer to. It always amazes me the guidance I get when I do this and it only takes a few minutes.

2. Light filled body

Imagine white light coming through the top of your head and filling your whole body and aura with light. When you feel light, connected, and centred, start to ask any questions on your mind. Pay attention to any thoughts, feelings, visualizations, or sensations.

3. Getting into nature

Going for a hike or peaceful walk helps quiet your mind, making it easier to hear your inner self.

4. Meditation

Meditating helps calm your mind and brings you into your higher self. When you have a daily meditation practice it makes it easier to live from your true essence instead of your ego. There are lots of meditations out there to help connect to your higher self here is one that I made.

5. Water

Have you ever noticed that when you take a bath or have a shower, you get the most inspiring ideas? Water helps relax us and brings us into stillness which makes it easier to hear our inner self.

6. Sleep

Before you fall asleep is the perfect time to connect with your higher self. You can also set the intention to get guidance from your inner self during sleep.

7. Creativity

Whether thats through art, dancing, writing, singing, knitting whatever feels good for you. When you express yourself and are in “the zone” you're instantly guided by your higher self. When you feel blocked try walking away from the project and come back to it when you're feeling more centred.

When we're connected to our higher self, things start to flow, your life becomes easier and you attract all good things to you. You know you're connected when you feel peaceful, joyous, love, light, happy, and at ease.
